Postdoctoral research position
A one-year postdoctoral research position, renewable for up to three years, is available at the Mathematics Department at Universidad Andres Bello located in Santiago, Chile. We are looking for a candidate holding a doctoral degree in mathematics or related fields, specialized in one of the following (or related) areas:
- Aperiodic Tilings and Quasicrystals;
- Combinatorics, Graph Theory;
- Computability and Complexity in Analysis and Dynamics;
- Foundations of Computable Mathematics;
- Dynamical systems, Ergodic Theory, Complex Dynamics and Randomness;
- Differential and Riemannian Geometry.
The candidate should have received a Ph.D. degree by the beginning of the appointment and not before July 2011.
The candidate is expected to contribute in the research activities of the Mathematics Deparment, apply for research projects and publish in high-quality journals. We offer a pleasant and inspiring environment, good opportunities for scientific development, no teaching load 1 and competitive salary 2 (US$ 2800 app. per month after taxes). Financial support for travels related to the scientific project will also be available.

Notes: (1) Teaching is optional and paid separately. The courses are taught in Spanish. (2) As a reference, the rent for a furnished apartment nearby the University campus is about US$ 700 per month.
